A weekend, three days

Balboa workshops, live music, and the swing community of southern Italy together in Scilla, one of Calabria's most charming villages, overlooking the Strait of Messina.

A different kind of Balboa event: relaxed and social, with no show, no competitions and nothing on the spot. Just a weekend for people who love to dance. Saturday has a few easygoing classes, and we may add a few fun surprises.

Two tracks on Saturday. Beginner: for anyone new to Balboa, with or without other dance experience. Intermediate and advanced: for dancers who already know their Balboa.

Un weekend, trois jours

Ateliers de Balboa, musique live, et la communauté swing du sud de l'Italie réunie à Scilla, l'un des plus charmants villages de Calabre, face au détroit de Messine.

Un événement de Balboa différent : décontracté et convivial, sans spectacle, sans compétition et sans rien d'imposé sur le moment. Simplement un weekend pour celles et ceux qui aiment danser. Le samedi, quelques cours tout en douceur, et peut-être quelques belles surprises.

Deux volets le samedi. Débutant : pour toute personne nouvelle au Balboa, avec ou sans autre expérience de danse. Intermédiaire et avancé : pour les danseurs qui connaissent déjà leur Balboa.

Workshop di Balboa, musica dal vivo, e la comunità swing del sud Italia riunita a Scilla, uno dei borghi più suggestivi della Calabria, affacciato sullo Stretto di Messina.

Un evento Balboa diverso: rilassato e conviviale, senza spettacolo, senza competizioni e senza niente di improvvisato. Solo un weekend per chi ama ballare. Il sabato ci sono alcune lezioni leggere, e forse qualche piccola sorpresa.

Due percorsi il sabato. Principiante: per chi è nuovo al Balboa, con o senza altra esperienza di danza. Intermedio e avanzato: per chi conosce già il Balboa.

Ada Gori

Ada discovered swing in 2018 and fell in love with the music and the joy of partner dancing. She has taught at Swing For Fun since 2021 and founded the first Shag community in Bologna. Lindy Hop, Jazz, Balboa, Collegiate and St. Louis Shag all inspire her. She is endlessly curious, always learning from new teachers in Italy and abroad, and always respectful of the culture these dances come from. For Ada, dancing means connecting with the music and with people, without losing your own voice. She loves social dancing most.

Mike Speronello

At age 9, Mike’s love of early 1900s African American music led him to competitive acrobatic Boogie Woogie and Rock’n’Roll, where he earned podium finishes at national and international events. As his competitive career wound down, he fell in love with social dancing and swing styles, especially Lindy Hop and Balboa, and began studying on the world’s best-known dance floors. In 2016 he joined Gigglemugs Swing Dancers in Padova, teaching Lindy Hop, Balboa, Authentic Jazz and Boogie Woogie. He helped grow the Veneto swing scene, organizing events and teaching in Padova, Bassano del Grappa and Treviso. In 2026 he moved to Bologna to begin a new chapter with Swing For Fun.

Ada Gori

Ada découvre le swing en 2018 et tombe aussitôt amoureuse de la musique et du plaisir de la danse à deux. Elle enseigne chez Swing For Fun depuis 2021 et a fondé la première communauté de Shag à Bologne. Lindy Hop, Jazz, Balboa, Collegiate et St. Louis Shag l’inspirent tous. D’une grande curiosité, elle apprend sans cesse de nouveaux enseignants, en Italie et à l’étranger, toujours dans le respect de la culture dont ces danses sont issues. Pour Ada, danser, c’est entrer en harmonie avec la musique et les gens, sans perdre sa propre voix. C’est la danse sociale qu’elle aime le plus.

Mike Speronello

À 9 ans, sa passion pour la musique afro-américaine du début du 20e siècle mène Mike au Boogie Woogie et au Rock’n’Roll acrobatique de compétition, où il remporte des podiums nationaux et internationaux. À la fin de sa carrière de compétition, il découvre la danse sociale et les styles swing, surtout le Lindy Hop et le Balboa, et se met à étudier sur les pistes les plus réputées du monde. En 2016, il se joint à Gigglemugs Swing Dancers à Padoue, où il enseigne le Lindy Hop, le Balboa, l’Authentic Jazz et le Boogie Woogie. Il contribue à faire grandir la communauté swing de la Vénétie en organisant des événements et en donnant des cours à Padoue, Bassano del Grappa et Trévise. En 2026, il s’installe à Bologne pour ouvrir un nouveau chapitre avec Swing For Fun.

Ada Gori

Ada scopre lo swing nel 2018 e si innamora subito della musica e della gioia del ballo di coppia. Insegna alla Swing For Fun dal 2021 e ha fondato la prima comunità di Shag a Bologna. Lindy Hop, Jazz, Balboa, Collegiate e St. Louis Shag la ispirano tutti. Curiosa e sempre in cerca di nuovi insegnanti, in Italia e all’estero, rispetta la cultura da cui nascono questi balli. Per Ada ballare significa entrare in sintonia con la musica e le persone, senza perdere la propria voce. Ama soprattutto la social dance.

Mike Speronello

A 9 anni, la passione per la musica afroamericana dei primi del Novecento porta Mike al Boogie Woogie e al Rock’n’Roll acrobatico agonistico, dove conquista podi nazionali e internazionali. Concluso il percorso agonistico, scopre la social dance e gli stili swing, in particolare Lindy Hop e Balboa, e inizia a studiare sulle più famose piste internazionali. Dal 2016 collabora con Gigglemugs Swing Dancers a Padova, insegnando Lindy Hop, Balboa, Authentic Jazz e Boogie Woogie. Contribuisce alla crescita della comunità swing veneta, organizzando eventi e lezioni a Padova, Bassano del Grappa e Treviso. Dal 2026 è a Bologna per aprire un nuovo capitolo con la Swing For Fun.
